Box Office And Response

The movie intitled:

the Ugly Truth

The Ugly Truth released on July 24, 2009, by Columbia Pictures in North America as romantic-comedy starring Katherine Heigl and Gerald Butler in lead roles. It was a tough time to leave a mark because of excessive competition and some great movies that were already competing for good box office results.
It opened third in the box office after the second weekend of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) and the then recently released G-Force (2009) which has its own magnificence in terms of response with the highest per screen average. The film made good business with overall 205.3 million USD and is Katherine Heigl’s second highest grossing film after her popular film ‘Knocked Up’ (2007).

In Great Britain and Ireland, the film actually managed to earn the position of being at the top of the box office earning £1.9 million, beating G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra which came second in the run with £1.7 million.

The Washington Post reviewed the film as glossy, sexy, and snarky that too indulgently, refreshingly, and legitimately. This review was written by Ruth McCann. Star Tribune’s Kara Nesvig says, “the dialogue is snappy and sexy, Heigl and Butler spar with zingy chemistry, and though the ending may be as predictable as you’d assume, it’s a sexy sort of popcorn flick”. The same article also praises Katherine Heigl and says that The Ugly Truth has risen above or added above the sum of its cliches.
